APPOINTMENTS

Appointments

To make an initial appointment you need a referral from another doctor.

The referral can be addressed to Dr Flynn, Dr Scott or Tamworth Gastroenterology.

Referrals can be delivered by email, fax, post or by hand to our office.

All referrals are reviewed by a doctor prior to an appointment being offered. This is to try and enable those with the most urgent and serious conditions to receive timely care.

When suitable, a procedure may be arranged without a prior consultation in our Dean St office. This is done to avoid unnecessary cost and delay. Dr Scott/Flynn will always speak with you in the hospital prior to the procedure on the day it occurs.

However if you would prefer to have a consultation in our Dean St office prior to a procedure being booked, please let us know and this will be arranged.

Telehealth appointments using Zoom are available where suitable, however a face to face consultation is preferred for initial appointments.

Waiting times (as of May 2023)

Waiting times depend on the number of referrals received, access to operating theatre time at the hospitals, on call responsibilities, and leave taken to attend a conference or take a holiday. The waiting times below are only a guide to help you make decisions, they are not a guarantee of a time frame for an appointment or procedure. This can more accurately be estimated once the referral is received and triaged.
